A Santa Claus of the olden days, the inventor of wooden toys, is exhausted of having travelled so many times through the snow. Therefore he passes his artful craft on to his son. He departs at dawn: a few days later there are only the reindeers and a cape returning home. Since he was a child, the son, who loved the forest trees, had been sharing his solitude, his doubts and his happiness with a snail, his inseparable friend with a rare virtue: a thinker, a slow and wise thinker. One fresh spring morning, the young boy takes the reindeers out to a clearing, just as his father used to do during the month of May. Suddenly the animals stop grazing and raise their heads: in the middle of the clearing, a mink furred cape is warming a baby girl. The Girl is a startling story about friendship, re-gathering and subtle feelings, virtues that seem to have already vanished among mankind. Besides it is a story about a boy’s love for trees and other forest creatures. As the story continues, some doubts may be raised: what had happened to the mother of the young successor of Santa Claus?
