The project (a)Riscar o Património is an initiative by the Direção-Geral do Património Cultural. Created in 2014, its main event – among other activities and meetings – brings together lovers and practitioners of drawing, focusing on a theme framed by the European Heritage Days.
By combining the verbs riscar (to draw) and arriscar (to dare) in its name, the project reflects its spirit: to offer participants a perspective on heritage through drawing, while daring to experience and create graphic records on paper. With the partnership of Urban Sketchers Portugal, (a)Riscar o Património found the ideal collaboration, as quick sketching, done in the moment, allows a more relaxed and fun representation of heritage, far from the monumental weight the word itself carries.
In this context, Caminho das Palavras publishes a book of the magnificent sketches created, which aims to encapsulate the spirit of the project. The book is richly illustrated and includes testimonies from those who collaborate with and participate in the project.
