Chaparim quer comer a lua is a charming story about a dreamy little mouse who lives in the majestic Castle of Beja. Chaparim has a firm belief: he believes that the moon is made of Serpa cheese, the most delicious of all! Determined to taste the celestial flavor, he embarks on an adventure full of challenges and adventures.

With the help of Mariana Zuzufurado, a little mouse, and other friends from the castle – such as the cunning cat Luís Larocha – Chaparim puts ingenious plans into action to achieve his impossible dream. But will he finally manage to taste the moon? And what will this “lunar cheese” taste like?

Between mischief and discoveries, this sweet and exciting story highlights the riches of the Alentejo – the golden landscapes, the lively culture, and the irresistible cuisine.   • Alexandra Santos Rosa was born in Beja in 1965, city where she grew up and still currently lives.

    Throughout her professional career, she has worked as a preschool teacher, continuing education coordinator, higher education professor, dance and movement initiation teacher, and early intervention team technician. She currently works as a special education teacher.

    She holds a PhD in Sociology of Everyday Life and the Family from ISCTE, a master's degree in Sociology of the Family and Population, a postgraduate degree in Special Education and a degree in Early Childhood Education and Social Work.

    She is passionate about the arts, to which she has dedicated much of her life, namely dance, visual arts and children's literature.

    Her work has been exhibited in various locations from north to south of Portugal and she has received two awards in the category of trapologia—a technique for crafting pieces by sewing together pieces of fabric of different colours or patterns—(2008 and 2011) and one for polymer clay sculpture (2009).

    She is the author of the books A Girafa Maria (2011, Tuttirév), Natal também é fado (2012, Alfarroba) and A Princesa Magalona (2014, Alfarroba), currently under the name Alexandra Graça.
