The pandemic crisis brought with it a renewed desire to reclaim the joy of reunion. The author, an economist by training and a native of Guarda, sought to reconnect with her deepest aspirations—both on a personal level and for her country and region—by sharing her concerns and reflections, always with a critical perspective on Portugal’s interior.
This selection of chronicles serves as both a testimony, written from a female perspective, and an uncompromising call for a more balanced national distribution and equal treatment of all Portuguese citizens.
Pensar o Interior is not only an expression of the author's opinions but also an urgent appeal to reconsider Portugal’s future.
Pensar o Interior
A native of Guarda, married, and mother of two daughters.
She considers herself and describes herself as an activist for the cause of Portugal’s interior, advocating for a region facing severe demographic and structural challenges. Yet, this cause does not diminish her deep pride in being Portuguese.
With a PhD in Economics from the University of Beira Interior and a postgraduate degree in Territorial Marketing, as well as a master’s and a bachelor's degree in Economics, she is an academic researcher. She serves as the Executive Coordinator of Territórios do Côa, ADR.
She is also a lecturer at ISCET (Porto), a trainer, a business consultant, and a guest speaker at events focused on regional and tourism promotion, innovation, and the encouragement of creativity and entrepreneurship. Additionally, she is the author and co-author of scientific articles published in economics and management journals, magazines, and books.
